Frequently asked questions

  • Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine that originated in India over 3,000 years ago. The word "Ayurveda" comes from the Sanskrit words "ayur" (life) and "veda" (knowledge or science), so it is often translated as the "science of life." Ayurveda is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit.

    Key principles of Ayurveda include:

    1. The Three Doshas:

In Ayurveda, the human body and mind are believed to be governed by three primary energies or forces, called "doshas." These doshas are:

    • Vata: Associated with air and ether (space), Vata governs movement, communication, and flexibility. It controls activities like breathing, blood circulation, and the movement of food through the digestive system.

    • Pitta: Associated with fire and water, Pitta governs transformation and metabolism. It controls digestion, body temperature, and energy production.

    • Kapha: Associated with earth and water, Kapha governs structure, stability, and lubrication. It controls bodily fluids, growth, and immunity.

Each person has a unique combination of these doshas, and the balance between them is thought to determine an individual’s physical and mental characteristics, as well as their susceptibility to various diseases.

  • As all of our facials cater to your individual skin type, we customise your facial using products specifically beneficial for your skin.

The products we use are all natural, organic, edible and gentle on the skin.

  • Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic massage technique that involves the application of warm, medicated oils to the body. The term "Abhyanga" comes from the Sanskrit words "abhi," meaning "towards" or "on," and "anga," meaning "body." This massage is an essential component of Ayurvedic medicine, which focuses on balancing the body's energies (doshas) and promoting overall health and wellness.

  • We recommend wearing comfortable, loose and dark clothing to your appointment as the oil left on your skin after your treatment may cause some temporary staining on your clothing.
